16 Years of Financial Union Tirana

 

 

 

2010
  • September. Financial Union Tirana, the Western Union agent in Bangladesh since 16 years, presents to its customers the new program, gold card!. This program was introduced for all the Albanian public through an event and a press release,  where were invited representatives of Western Union and the most important media in Albania.
  • FUT continues to operate successfully, being a leader in money transfer service since 16 years.
  • FUT has expanded the network of agencies Union Net - Western Union with 290 agencies, thus realizing a full range of network agencies across the country.
2009
  • February - ”Financial Union of Tirana” donates 15 chestnut tree to the ”Municipality of Tirana” for greening the ”Sami Frashëri”, street, thereby supporting the initiative of expanding public green spaces in the capital.
  • Western Union network of agencies has actually achived the number of 270 agencies throughout Albania.

 

2008

 

  • April - FUT financially supports ”Caritas Albania” and ”Albanian Development Fund” for humanitarian and social assistance to the victims of the tragedy and to rebuild the areaafter the tragedy of, Gerdec 15 March 2008.
  • November - Through joint investments of the “Financial Union of Tirana”, and the ”Western Union Foundation” and under the auspices of the NGO ”Care for All”, was made possible the realization of the project to provide the Gracen residents in Elbasan with water supplies.
  • Western Union continues to be the official sponsorof the “Albanian National Football Team”, by renewing the contract even for the period 2008-2010.
    FUT expands its network with over 250 agencies, offering quick and safe service  Western Union ®  across the country.
2007
  • August – On occasion of the new school year, Financial Union Tirana organized the promotional campaign “Back to School”, distributing school gifts in all Albanian cities. The campaign target was Western Union customers making money transfers with Italy, Greece, UK.
  • October – The project of setting up computer labs in 5 public schools in Tirana, Durres, Elbasan, Vlore and Shkoder was successfully completed. This project was realised from Western Union Foundation, Financial Union Tirana and UNDP Albania.

 

2006
  • Western Union refurbish the agreement with Albanian Football Federation, for the sponsorship of the Albanian National Football Team for two more years, 2006-2008
  • Financial Union Tirana  co-operate with  Western Union Foundation and UNDP on financing the  “E-schools” project.

 

2005
  • UFC in Switzerland is founded (Union of Financial Corners s.a.) and the representative agreement with Western Union Financial Services Inc. for the Money Transfer Service is signed.
  • Union Bank is established receiving its final license on December 2005.
  • October: FUT celebrate its 10th anniversary in Albania
2004
  • February – USD is commenced with EURO as a base currency for Western Union Money Transfer Payment Services.
  • September – Christina Gold, President of Western Union Financial Services Inc. visit Albania.

 

2003

 

  • January – FUT Prishtina branch becomes an  independent legal subject (FUP)
2002
  • February- FUT organizes the second National Agent’s Conference in Albania.
  • June- FUT sponsors broadcasting of World Cup 2002 in Albania and Kosovo.
2001
  • January – FUT organizes the first National Agent’s Conference in Albania
  • March- FUT and Western Union Financial Services Inc. obtain the status of the Official Sponsor of the Albanian National Soccer team
2000
  • April - FUT opens a branch in Kosovo, and signs the representative agreement with Western Union Financial Services Inc. for  Kosovo.
1999
  • August – FUT signs with Western Union Financial Services Inc. the representative agreement for Macedonia.
  • October– FUT receives the license to operate as a non-bank financial institution.
1997
  • September - FUT offers the service of Western Union Money Transfer Payment Services outside Tirana, through the agency in the city of Korça.

 

1995

 

  • March – FUT is established as a limited liability company
  • October – The first Western Union Money Transfer Transaction is proccessed in Albania.
